Muliner Playground Art

“Muliner Playground Art” is a vibrant outdoor installation created by local Bronx artist Ruth Marshall working alongside with community participants. Installed along fencing at Matthews Muliner Playground, off Morris Park Ave in the Bronx, this artwork aims to beautify the park, creating an uplifting and engaging environment for everyone who visits. All ages and skill levels are welcome to attend the 8 workshops and explore Paracord – a strong, colorful nylon cord suitable for all kinds of knotting, weaving, even crochet! This is a great weekend activity for families and it’s free!

NEWS!!! The installation is up! Working together with local volunteer community members we built a durable, colorful and engaging site specific public art installation that was designed as a shared process contributing time, skill and care toward a collective artwork celebrating connection and beauty.

This is the first time there has been an art installation at Matthews Muliner Playground! I’d like to thank my community partners – Morris Park Library, Morris Park BID, NYC Parks and Bronx Council on the Arts for making this opportunity possible! The artwork will be on display until the end of June 2026 as part of the NYC Parks ‘Art in the Parks’ program.

Built during 2025 from September 13 – November 1, where workshops were held at Morris Park Library, 985 Morris Park Ave, Bronx NY 10462. See below for more images!

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Administered by Bronx Council on the Arts.
