Su Casa 2024 begins Tuesday May 7th at JASA older adults center in Throg’s Neck, 550 Balcom Ave, Bronx NY 10465. 10AM - 12PM.

Join us on the Hutchinson Parkway for a bike ride or scooter ride next Friday evening 7 pm. Me and my collab Patti will be giving a little talk about the butterfly habitat and other sights will be pointed out as well along this 7 mile ride! QR for sign up! FUN!

Today is officially Earth Day and it is a glorious day to celebrate our Mother Earth. If you happen to travel along the Hutchinson Parkway in the Pelham Bay area of the Bronx - either by car, bike, scooter, or walking - look out near 1200 Waters Place / The Hutchinson Metro Center right next to the 911 tower - there are crocheted butterfly wings at the pedestrian walkway, and this is where there is a protected butterfly habitat! Here’s a map! You may see Patti Cooper there tending to the area where there are native species of plants growing such as Milkweed - the host plant for the Monarch butterfly. And all sorts of critters rely on these plants to lay their eggs, eat, rest & nest, at this safe haven here in the Bronx. We can help our local species survive and thrive!

It was a cold Spring day in Loreto playground, but we connected with over 50 people and spread some Monarch Butterfly love 🦋 for Earth Day. Stay tuned for upcoming events in June at the Hutch Metro Center where our butterfly habitat is! 🦋

EARTH DAY is officially tomorrow, but here at Loreto Playground, at 1111 Van Nest Ave, Bronx 10462 it’s TODAY! We invite you to join us 12-2pm to learn something new about our world and our local habitat here in the Bronx. Nearby at the Hutch Metro Center we have established a butterfly habitat and we have a map to show you where it is! We have free giveaways of milkweed plants to help Monarch butterflies. You can learn how to identify a Monarch butterfly with our coloring in origami craft. Need some paper? Using local plants you can make your own with us!
